The Miniature Garden Manifesto: 2025 Edition
Welcome to the Miniature Garden Manifesto! After sharing my vision for this enchanting hobby a couple/few years ago, I’ve continued to grow, learn, and refine what makes miniature gardening so magical and so gosh-darn-fun to do. In this updated statement, you’ll find out why I’m still the trusted guide to help you create, nurture and help make your tiny garden dreams come true. Let’s dig in!

At Two Green Thumbs Miniature Garden Center, I’ve spent the last 24 years creating solutions and pioneering this magical hobby that has grown worldwide. I don’t wait for trends or copy other businesses—I lead with innovation, authenticity, and an unwavering commitment to this craft. (Okay, I’m really a kid in a candy store with this topic – literally, I’m obsessed – but that’s beside the point.)
I’m here to guide you with original ideas and unmatched expertise, because this wonderful hobby of gardening in miniature deserves nothing less and you, my gentle reader, deserve the best. - Integrity is Non-Negotiable
In a world chasing shortcuts , I stand firm on integrity. I don’t compromise on quality, ethics, or sustainability—which is really an easy thing to do if it’s part of your own value-system. As the saying goes, “Honestly is not only morally right, it’s highly efficient.” I really would be much farther ahead (read: my bank account would have benefited greatly,) if I didn’t care about principles and ethics. This just might make me a poor business person in today’s environment but I really could not do it any other way, I just can’t knowingly and willingly mislead anyone. It’s just not part of my DNA.
This commitment has not generated much industry recognition, writing awards, nor “likes & follows” on the socials, but it ensures that everything I offer you is something I’m proud of and that you can trust. Whether it’s our products, my advice, or our business practices, I prioritize your joy, the environment, and the integrity of this hobby.

At our Two Green Thumbs store, we treat our customers how we want to be treated—with honesty, care, and respect. If something doesn’t work, I’ll let you know. If we make a mistake, we’ll own it and make it right. (And we love it when you do too!) With my expert plant-packer Steve by my side, we’re here to ensure that every interaction is as delightful as the miniature gardens we help you create. - Standing Apart, Together
I’ve never chased fleeting trends or flashy headlines and I don’t plan to start now (but I have had fun making a miniature garden theme out of some of them!) Instead, I’ve focused on creating a space where miniature gardeners like you feel inspired, supported, and understood. This isn’t about fitting into industry norms – because it’s not a “normal” hobby yet, more people need to know it’s a “thing.” (And I’ll “stop” using “quotes” now. :o) It’s really about sharing the joy of gardening in miniature with integrity, creativity, and respect for the environment. - Miniature Gardening is Here to Stay
While others may dismiss miniature gardening as a passing trend or try to loop it into fairy gardening, I’ve known for over two decades that this is a genuine, timeless hobby because of you, my miniature garden friend – you keep coming back each season, each year and sometimes each month. Without your dedication to this new hobby, I would not still be here. It’s in your emails and comments where I can see YOUR love of the hobby too!
But, Wait, There’s More!
If there is ONE thing I can tell you about this new hobby is that is really is a garden – just like your full-sized garden but on a much smaller scale, of course. You’ll find other videos by major garden celebrities treating this idea as temporary, but it really isn’t (or it doesn’t have to be if you don’t want it.) It will grow and weave itself together like a garden does. You can apply all the garden design insights to it: focal and anchor points, texture, balance, form, color… It needs regular watering, weeding, thinning, dividing, pruning and renovating – just like a full-sized garden.
And, the bonus: you can take it with you. :o)
A New Way to Grow
Join us for the joy, the creativity, and the magic that miniature gardening brings to our lives and those around us. A miniature garden can be a 4″-wide tiny garden with a wee bench and patio. Or, it can be a sprawling landscape on a 20 foot parking strip where you’ll feel like a Gulliver (<- hopefully without the suspenders. Lol!)
Together, we will continue to craft a legacy in the garden industry, in the miniature world and in the crafting universe —one tiny plant and one miniature garden at a time.
